Are you ready for the design world’s biggest week? Across the city, there’s more going on than ever before. At the centre of it all is the Salone del Mobile furniture fair, which this year will include Eurocucine (a celebration of all that’s new in kitchen design) and the International Bathroom Exhibition, as well as a very Twin Peaks-esque room for reflection by legendary director David Lynch. Pick up the ELLE Decoration May issue for our run-down of the biggest product launches to spot.

Away from the packed halls of the fair, though, there’s another world of inspiration to be discovered. That’s what we plan to delve into here – exciting design events across Milan and where to find them!

Now in its seventh year, the contemporary design destination founded in 2018 by Valentina Ciuffi and Joseph Grima attracts tens of thousands of visitors and exhibitors each year. For 2024, the platform will take place in two historic villas within walking distance of each other: the modernist masterpiece Villa Borsani (pictured) by Osvaldo Borsani and the 19th-century Villa Bagatti Valsecchi. A 15-minute train ride from the city’s centre, it’s a little outside of the normal design week stomping grounds, but it’s worth making the trip to discover works by Objects of Common Interest x Bitossi, Gohar World and Faina. alcova.xyz
